Ever since Sigma Chi vacated its old chapter house on Norwich Road in 2002, the building has been a thorn in the side of both fraternity brothers and College Park officials.

Sigma Chi has since been reinstated, and the owner of the house, Sigma Chi’s Gamma Chi Chapter President Barry DesRoches, has been trying to tear it down, despite the building’s being part of the College Park Historic District. Read more about that here.

However, some Sigma Chi alumni have come up with their own solution — and it isn’t demolition. Their plan, independent from the fraternity’s efforts, is to buy it.

Here’s the lowdown.

The bros: Literally, five Sigma Chi dudes who graduated in the ’90s, lost their charter and now consider themselves members of an “underground alumni fraternity” called Betta [sic] Rho Omega, or BRO.

And, of course, they have their own videos.

The Captain:

The Bulldog:

The Falcon:

The Big Jew:

The Hammer:

The setting: 4600 Norwich Road, obviously.

The scheme: They want to buy the house from DesRoches and turn it into the site for a reality TV show titled Frat Life Forever: The Ultimate Frat Guy Challenge, and then once that’s done, turn the house into a party pad.

It’s not clear what the timeline is, but their show would supposedly happen right in Old Town, heedless to the wishes of Sigma Chi, this university and the College Park City Council.

#yolo, amirite?

Of course, they need funds. No worries, they’ve got a fundraising website set up.

The campaign began Dec. 6 and will last until Jan. 5. A month seems like enough time to raise plenty of cash, right? Maybe even $50,000?

No money, no permission, no problem. They’ve already raised more than $1,300.

The guys also said they will stop at nothing to get this show on air, money or no money.

Who wouldn’t want to see five middle-aged guys try to beat each other at “all the essential Frat Guy skills” within what I am assuming will be an all-encompassing pirate theme?

There’s only one tiny hitch. If you actually read the article I linked up there, you’d see the house is likely getting demolished.

I’m not sure how this all plays into the plan, but I’m sure The Captain and his boys will figure something out.
