With the hundreds of YouTubers making video game playthroughs, the question is: who is the best to watch? We don’t need to watch twenty different people playing the same game, so you have to narrow down the choices. I compiled a list of some of the best game playthrough and reaction videos. (Please be aware that most of these have very obscene language. I don’t recommend listening to them loudly in McKeldin Library.)
5.) Lin and Ko’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf videos
An international couple living in Japan, Lin and Ko were making New Leaf videos before the game released in the states. Though these videos aren’t necessarily humorous, something about them has appeal. Their gentle voices and small jokes guide you through parts of the game that you might not necessarily experience, like international holidays. In the above video, they show the viewers Tanabata — a Japanese holiday that isn’t available in our US games.
4.) The Evil Foxy
Hands down the funniest and best videos of Amnesia: The Dark Decent. Aside from his super amusing accent, his dumb quips and jokes would make anyone who knows about the Amnesia games laugh. His squeaky scared sounds are the best around.
3.) Angry Super Mario Guy
An anonymous guy whose videos get thrown around YouTube and other websites plays an extreme version of Super Mario that refuses to let him win. His reactions and pure rage are super entertaining to watch.
2.) Game Grumps VS Wheel of Fortune Junior
When two guys play a NES version of Wheel of Fortune that was made in the 80s, you know the words are going to be old and unfair. Naturally, the boys lose to the computer but watching them struggle to guess the obscure terms and screech in anger is worth your time.
1.) Rooster Teeth
Ah, yes. The original rage quit guy. His playthrough of The Impossible Game is what inspired most YouTube gamers now. His stupid insults and intense swearing is an inspiration to us all. All hail Rooster Teeth!
