Maryland basketball forward Kent Auslander helped lead his summer league team to a 118-111 victory in the Kenner League championship Sunday.
He connected on three straight shots from beyond the arc to help On Pointe defeat The Tomb. His performance came in front of his parents, Bill and Christine, and his brother John, who played three seasons with the Terps and recently served as a graduate assistant.
The Kenner League takes place in Washington, D.C., and includes many local college players. Incoming Maryland freshman guard Anthony Cowan also participated in the tournament but lost in the quarterfinals as a member of the Pro City squad.
Auslander, who scored just three total points in 10 games last year for the Terps, hopes he can build on his strong summer performance.
“The opportunity to play in the Kenner League did a lot for my confidence,” Auslander said in a release. “It was great to show that I could drive the basketball, make plays and hit quality shots against high-level Division I competition.”
