Junior college defensive back J.C. Jackson is expected to arrive in College Park this Tuesday to begin his career with the Maryland football program, per 247sports’ Ryan Bartow.
Jackson spent last season with the Riverside Community College Tigers, compiling 25 tackles and two forced fumbles in six games. In June, 247sports reported Jackson would likely come to Maryland.
Jackson was originally a four-star recruit committed to the Florida Gators in 2014. But after redshirting his freshman year, he was charged in April 2015 with felony armed robbery in relation to a home invasion at an apartment complex. He later withdrew from the university.
In a trial last November Jackson was found not guilty.
Jackson will be eligible immediately and has three years remaining, according to the report. The 5-foot-11 cornerback will likely start opposite award-winning cornerback Will Likely.
Jackson joins a long list of new Terps destined for the defensive backfield. The Terps will have three-stars Elisha and Elijah Daniels, Qwuantrezz Knight, and Antwaine Richardson joining Jackson this season, with Deon Jones and Fofie Bazzie arriving in 2017, revamping the Terps secondary.
All of the above defensive backs hail from either Florida or Maryland.
