As the start of 2016 Maryland football season approaches, we’re learning more about when and where fans can watch DJ Durkin’s inaugural year as head coach.
The Terps will open at home against Howard on Sept. 3, a noon kickoff on the Big Ten Network (BTN). They also will have a 7:30 p.m. home game on Oct. 22 against Michigan State televised on BTN.
Maryland also has a two-game road trip to the sunny state of Florida. The Terps’ first game, in one of the nation’s most fertile recruiting areas, will be Sept. 9 at 7 p.m against Florida International. Eight days later, on Sept. 17, the Terps face Central Florida in another 7 p.m. kickoff. Including an Oct. 22 game against Michigan State in College Park, the Terps will get three primetime games this fall.
For University of Maryland students who live in on-campus housing, watching the two away games in Florida might prove to be difficult. Both games are being shown on CBS Sports Network, a channel that was not available to students who use the university’s Xfinity cable package in 2015.
Unless the package changes to include CBS Sports Network this year, students who want to watch DJ Durkin coach his second and third game with Maryland will likely have to go one of the many restaurants and bars near the campus or find some way to stream it on the internet.
We’ll update this post as we learn more.
