The three quarterbacks who played in Maryland football’s spring game combined to throw four touchdowns of at least 40 yards Saturday, but those on the receiving end of those scores could be vital to the team’s up-tempo offense come the fall.

Wide receiver Levern Jacobs, who led the team in receptions (35) and yards (425) last season, caught touchdowns of 48 and 51 yards in the first quarter. The rising redshirt senior finished the contest as the Terps’ leading receiver, catching five passes for 112 yards.

Jacobs was suspended for the 2014 season in late August after he was charged with second-degree assault, though he was found not guilty that December. But after another full year working with quarterbacks Perry Hills and Caleb Rowe last season, Jacobs appears to be one of the team’s top receiving options.

“He’s always been a big target for me throughout my entire career coming in together,” said Rowe, who found Jacobs over the middle for the game’s first touchdown. “It really helps having receivers and being able to make plays kind of out in space. Levern did a really good job with that, just like all of our receivers.”

Wide receiver Malcolm Culmer, meanwhile, had four receptions for 68 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown catch. The Terps also got a long touchdown from Jacquille Veii, who had 72 yards receiving, but he’ll have to sit out the upcoming season after transferring back to the Terps from Towson in January.
