Terrapins men’s basketball coach Mark Turgeon is no stranger to the emphatic fist pump, but he reached another level of celebration during Sunday’s NCAA Tournament game against Hawaii.
Turgeon had never made a Sweet 16 during his previous four years at Maryland, and he wasn’t afraid to go nuts on the sideline during Maryland’s 73-60 win.
He turned into a “human pogo stick” and got some serious hangtime during a Rasheed Sulaimon-to-Diamond Stone alley-oop, but that wasn’t his only celebration of the night.

He went wild again when Jake Layman jammed home a fast-break dunk less than a minute later.

While guards Andrew Terrell and Varun Ram usually serve as the team’s most vocal cheerleaders, Turgeon kept one-upping them.
Here’s his reaction when Melo Trimble hit the team’s only 3-pointer of the game.

“That’s our coach. I mean, he just like us, always having fun,” Trimble said after the game.
We could see an even more hyped-up Turgeon when Maryland plays Kansas in the Sweet 16 on Thursday. With a trip to the Elite Eight on the line against his alma mater, emotions will surely be running high.
