The Terrapins men’s basketball team picked up its third recruit in the class of 2016 on Tuesday, receiving a verbal commitment from small forward Micah Thomas, according to a tweet he posted.
The Tennessee native is ranked a three-star recruit by 247sports and a four-star recruit by Rivals.
With forward Jake Layman graduating, the 6-foot-7 wing fills a hole at small forward. He joins point guard Anthony Cowan and shooting guard Kevin Huerter in the Terps’ recruiting class.
Thomas, who attends Huntington Prep in West Virginia, had narrowed his schools down to Louisville and the Terps. But ultimately, Thomas decided to join coach Mark Turgeon’s squad, which opens play in the NCAA Tournament on Friday as a No. 5 seed.
