For the first time this season, the Terrapins men’s basketball team is ranked outside of the top-10. In the latest Associated Press Poll, the Terps fell four spots to No. 14.
The Terps have been free falling in the rankings since they climbed to No. 2 in the country Feb. 8. Coach Mark Turgeon’s squad has lost three of its past four games, resulting in a lower ranking in each of the past three polls.
This past week, the Terps played one game against No. 15 Purdue. They fell behind by 16 points at one point in the first half before fighting back to tie the game, but they never held a lead in the 83-79 loss in West Lafayette, Indiana.
They will finish up their regular-season slate this week by hosting Illinois at Xfinity Center on Thursday before traveling to No. 12 Indiana on Sunday. The Terps are 0-3 this season on the road against ranked teams.
Other Big Ten teams ranked this week include No. 2 Michigan State and No. 16 Iowa.
