The Terrapins softball team didn’t get much rest before its final game of the weekend.
On Saturday night, the Terps played an extra inning game against Florida Atlantic that went past midnight, and they had to get up early to face Stony Brook on Sunday morning.
The Terps, perhaps a bit tired from their dramatic win the night before, were overmatched in a 10-4 loss.
Pitcher Brenna Nation failed to make it out of the first inning. She allowed three runs and was replaced by pitcher Madison Martin, who limited the damage with a strikeout, fly out and groundout to end the frame.
The Terps got a run back in the bottom of the first when catcher Kristina Dillard hit an RBI single. After going 3-for-3 with four RBIs in Saturday night’s in a win over FAU, she stayed hot against Stony Brook and went 2-for-4.
Stony Brook added a run in the third to take a 4-1 lead.
But the Terps fought back with two in the fourth on RBI hits from infielder Skylynne Ellazar and utility player Hannah Dewey. Both players recorded two hits on the day.
The game got away from the Terps in the sixth, though. Stony Brook scored four runs off Dewey, including a three-run blast to center field, to make it 8-3.
Stony Brook added two runs in the seventh to make it 10-4, and the Terps went down in three batters to end to game.
With the defeat, the Terps (5-10) have now finished three straight weekend tournaments with a losing record.
