The Terrapins men’s basketball team dropped four spots to No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Poll released Monday afternoon. It is the first time they have been ranked lower than No. 6 this season.
Coach Mark Turgeon’s squad dropped its first contest since Dec. 1 this past week when guard Rasheed Sulaimon’s last-second 3-pointer bounced off the rim in a 70-67 defeat at Michigan on Tuesday.
The Terps bounced back with a dominating performance against Ohio State at Xfinity Center. They led by as many as 43 and scored 100 points for the first time since 2012 in the 100-65 win.
After falling in the rankings, the Terps will host Northwestern on Tuesday before traveling to No. 11 Michigan State on Saturday. It will be their first game against a ranked opponent since Dec. 1 when they fell to then-No. 9 North Carolina.
The Spartans were ranked No. 1 at one point this season but have dropped their past two games and three in conference play. Other ranked Big Ten teams include No. 9 Iowa, No. 22 Purdue and No. 25 Indiana.
