I was exhausted, and it was raining. I had just spent the day tromping around Washington when I arrived back at the Regents Drive garage. Despite carrying a bag that weighed as much as a toddler, I had forgotten my umbrella. I had only one concern: my empty stomach. And I refused to eat another spinach wrap from the dining hall. No, not after this miserable day. As I trekked across campus, there was only one place that would do: Jason’s Deli.

Jason’s has a warmth not easily found at the myriad of other College Park establishments. The long, inviting tables are perfect for team dinners (or fam dinners or squad dinners). It’s the kind of place you can sit all evening and chat or spend an afternoon studying in the Terp’s Lounge.

From chowders to paninis, the menu contains a variety of delicious options, including specialties like the New Orleans Muffaletta and staples like pasta and meatballs. There’s even a sizable list of vegetarian options.

But let’s not forget perhaps the most glorious part of Jason’s — free ice cream. It’s scream worthy, of course. After all, what other restaurant is going to let you stuff your face with as much creamy soft serve as your heart desires?

Thank you, Jason’s, for understanding the college student dilemma: the need for endless dessert and the lack of money with which to finance it.

Jason’s is clean, the lines are hardly ever long and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The food comes in large portions, and there’s a salad bar too.

And if you fill out the survey, you will get a cookie. I promise. Jason’s deli is a symbol of College Park: fast, friendly and familiar. There’s no better place to relax with your friends and forget the stress of school with delicious food and, of course, plenty of ice cream.
