Echostage, Washington’s newest Electronic Dance Music club, opens this Saturday.
This Saturday, Dash Berlin is scheduled to play at Echostage, marking his first time performing in Washington.
“Fans of the trance superstar have been asking for over a year. The stars have aligned and parties on both sides have been able to clear their schedules for the trance superstar to finally appear at Glow,” Club Glow said in a release.
Jeffrey Sutorious, known as Dash Berlin, is a Dutch trance DJ. Also the No. 7 DJ in the world, he is the second most popular trance DJ, after his mentor, Armin van Buuren. He is currently signed to van Buuren’s record label, Armada Music, and continues to release songs on his most recent album, #musicislife.
How do students feel about Berlin’s first visit to D.C?
“It’s a huge deal,” said sophomore information systems major and avid Echostage-goer Soheyl Bastani. “Apart from this being his first time here, I’ve never seen Dash live at all, so I’m really excited about it.”
Berlin received early recognition for his 2007 hit, “Till the Sky Falls Down,” and continues to release crowd-pleasers such as “Waiting” and “Better Half of Me.” His most recent single, “Fool for Life,” brings in a different sound that’s sure to resonate well with fans.
Junior sociology major and local DJ Dom Trotta believes Berlin will have a great first show in D.C.
“He will definitely see why many well-known DJs appreciate the Club Glow experience,” he says. “Glow always takes good care of its artists, and Echostage’s updated sound system is great.”
Dash Berlin’s talent is obvious, but he also seems like the coolest and most chill guy ever. In an interview with DJ Mag, he says, ”If the music somehow attracts a more mainstream audience I consider it a compliment, because it happened in an organic way. The intention behind the music is pure.”
In regard to making distinctions between ‘trance’ and ‘EDM’, he continued, “Instead of focusing on the superficial differences that divide us, I prefer to focus on the fundamental things that unite us. It’s like the white light that comes from the sun; all possible color combinations are hiding in it. Some like the color red and some like the color blue, but we all share the same light.”
Forget music, that kind of mentality should be applied to everything in life. How dreamy is he? Like, can I date him?
Finally, he adds, “You get what you give. I DJ for the people, always.”
