Disney gets its first Latina princess

Disney has made major efforts in recent years to create diversity in its movies. We were first introduced to the first African-American princess, Tiana, only a few years ago and now Disney is introducing its first Latina princess, Princess Sofia. However, some critics say they don’t think she looks Latina at all. “It does seem odd that Disney would decide to make its first Latina princess look like a blue-eyed version of Belle from Beauty and the Beast,” writes Caity Weaver at Gawker. Flavor of Jail

Old School rapper Flavor Flav, known for his VH1 reality show The Flavor of Love, was arrested this week for allegedly assaulting his fiancée with a deadly weapon and threatening her kid. According to Las Vegas police, Flavor— real name William Drayton Jr. — got into an argument with his fiancée, Elizabeth Trujillo, over his alleged infidelities. The argument then grew to be violent when Elizabeth’s 17-year-old son confronted Flav, “at which point Flav grabbed two knives and followed the teen upstairs and threatened his life,” the report stated. Since the incident, Flav has been released after posting $23,000 bail. He was summoned to court yesterday.
