Prince George’s County Fire Department officials responded to LeFrak Hall this evening after a student reported the odor of gasoline.
At about 6:40 p.m., a student smelled gas while studying and alerted officials, according to University Police spokesman Capt. Marc Limansky. The odor came from a puddle of gasoline at the construction site near LeFrak Hall that individuals walking through the building tracked inside. Limansky said the area was clear later Wednesday night.
Limansky said gas leaks, spills and other hazardous material calls are common on the campus — especially with the construction work, science laboratories and traffic in the area.
“It happens all the time,” Limansky said. “It’s a pretty busy environment with all this stuff moving around.”
