From iPods to game systems, electronics are sure to be some of the most desired items on your wish list this year.

And while this year’s hottest tech toys still fall into categories such as MP3 players, video game consoles, computers and wireless devices, there seems to have been more than a little cross-breeding going on. This year, be prepared to play games on your MP3 player and MP3s on your video game system, to browse the Internet on your cell phone and scribble notes on your laptop.

Here are the top-10 multi-functional gadgets popping up on wish lists and in newspaper reviews everywhere this season.

Nintendo Wii Console

The latest game console from Nintendo features an innovative two-part, motion-sensing controller in addition to a new “channels” interface for the start menu. The Wii is also the first Nintendo-produced console to have backwards compatibility, as it will play games from the Nintendo Game Cube. $249.99 at Best Buy.

Playstation 3

Taking a page from Nintendo’s book, Sony included a controller update for the PS3, as the new controllers will feature tilt technology, meaning movement of the controller can move the character in some games. The PS3 comes in two models, one with a 20 GB hard drive and one with a 60 GB, allowing more internal storage. $599.99 for the 60 GB version, $499.99 for the 20 GB version.

Microsoft Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 has gone wireless. It allows you to play games, DVDs and CDs without the frustration of tangled cords. Also sporting a 20 GB hard drive, the Xbox 360 has a new feature allowing game players to paste pictures of themselves onto characters, creating life-like avatars. From $299.99 at Best Buy.

APPLE IPOD SHUFFLE

The shuffle received a face-lift, going from a finger-thick stick to a thin, clippable design. Also new to the shuffle is the ability to support playlists – although other iPod devices use playlists, the feature makes its first appearance on the shuffle. $79 from

Apple iPod Video Fifth Generation

With movies and TV shows now downloadable from iTunes, the fifth-generation iPod Video features either a 30 GB or 80 GB hard drive, giving more room for large video files. The new iPod also includes a search function that utilizes the click wheel to allow you to look up a song or artist by typing in their name. $249 for the 30 GB or $349 for the 80 GB at www.store.apple.com.

Microsoft Zune

Microsoft’s entry into the iPod market, the Zune is a new media player that can handle music, TV shows, movies and photos. The most innovative feature, though, is the ability to share songs with other Zune users in a 30-foot radius. The songs delete automatically after only three days, but can be flagged so the user can find the song at an online store. $249.99 at Best Buy.

Gateway Convertible Notebook

The convertible notebook has all the features of a typical laptop. The difference comes when you flip the screen down onto the keyboard – it functions as a notepad with a special pen. T-Mobile Sidekick 3

The T-Mobile Sidekick 3 is both a phone and a PDA. In addition to phone calls, the new Sidekick also functions as an MP3 player and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Motorola Razr V3 Cell Phone

The multimedia Motorola Razr is Bluetooth-capable and has a five-way navigation key. The VZ Navigator is a new GPS system offered by Verizon on the V3. Also new is an MP3 player and a Micro SD card slot, giving the phone more storage space for music, video and photos. $49.99 from

LG KG800 Chocolate Cell Phone

Catching on to the new wave of cell phone design, the KG800 Chocolate has a new sliding design and touch-sensitive control pad.
