Terrapin men’s assistant basketball coach Rob Moxley will return to coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, according to various media reports.

Moxley spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Charlotte before joining Gary Williams’ staff last April.

Both the Terps and Charlotte declined to comment.

Moxley, a Germantown native, is considered one of the country’s top recruiters. During his first stint in Charlotte, Moxley was the recruiting coordinator. In his seven seasons, four of Charlotte’s recruiting classes were ranked nationally in the top 20.

If Moxley returns to Charlotte, he will be the Terps’ fourth assistant coach to leave in the last two years. Jimmy Patsos (Loyola), Dave Dickerson (Tulane) and Mike Lonergan (Vermont) accepted head coaching jobs after spending time under Williams.
