You’d better see the Pat McGee Band while it still has a shred of dignity left.

After tomorrow’s performance at Marymount University with Josh Kelley, plus shows in Baltimore and Charlottesville, Va., the band will spend the rest of October and November opening for Hanson.

That’s right. The Pat McGee Band will be opening for those teeny-bopper heartthrobs who once tortured us with the mindless bubble-gum pop song “MMMBop.”

The pop-rock quintet released their fifth album, Save Me, in June and toured with Vertical Horizon. The guitar-driven album, vocalist McGee says, has a major emphasis on songwriting and returns to the band’s rock roots.

Opening the show is singer/songwriter Josh Kelley, who will be supporting his new album, Almost Honest, released August 23. The album features pedal steel guitar from Robert Randolph on three songs.

Kelley’s resume includes opening slots for the Goo Goo Dolls and the Dave Matthews Band. The album is called Almost Honest, Kelley says, because “a lot of [the] songs are about what people don’t say to each other.” His poetic lyrics serve as great accompaniment to his pleasant melodies and mellow songs.

Pat McGee Band and Kelley come to Marymount University’s Lee Center in Arlington, Va. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show start at $15. For more information, call (703) 284-1611.
