The Terrapin baseball team was unable to overcome five errors in its loss to N.C. State yesterday, 6-5, in 10 innings.

In the bottom of the tenth, N.C. State put together a two-out rally off of pitcher Josh Andrews. After Andrews loaded the bases, he was removed, and pitcher Sean Kane gave up the game-winning single.

Softball: At the Florida State Invitational last weekend, the Terrapin softball team finished 3-2 a strong performance at the plate by junior center fielder Natalie Grossman and a brilliant pitching weekend by sophomore Abbey Welch. The Terps (7-8) defeated St. Joseph’s in the final round after beating Georgia State and Florida A&M in pool play. The two losses of the weekend came to Southern Illinois and Troy State.

In the final round of the tournament, the Terps defeated St. Joseph’s, 3-0. Welch (5-2) notched her second win of the weekend, striking out eight in her complete game, one-hit performance. Grossman hit her first home run of the season in the fourth inning.

Track: Junior Kierra Foster became the first Terrapin All-American in three years Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships indoor championships. Foster, the only Terp represented at the national championship meet, finished sixth in the women’s long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 10.75 inches. Tianna Madison of Tennessee won the women’s long jump.

Gymnastics: Despite junior Rachel Martinez earning season high scores on the vault (9.85) and floor (9.9) and senior Leah Brill taking first on the uneven bars (9.8) the Terrapins gymnastics team (11-10) finished second Saturday at a quad meet in Towson.

The Terps (192.85) fell to Towson (193.475), but beat Rutgers (192.7) and Pittsburgh (191.225).
