KOL SASSON
Although Kol Sasson is one of three Jewish a cappella groups here at this university, years of success have proven that they can truly stand out among the rest. Performing in both English and Hebrew, the group combines languages and styles of music in the hopes of creating a profoundly unique experience for the listener.
The members’ voices aren’t the only things that blend well together. The members themselves have become a tight knit group of friends.
“I may be a little biased, but I really believe that the members of Kol Sasson are some of the kindest, most enthusiastic people I have ever met. We all support each other despite our differences, and we really are a family,” said Maxine Rich, a junior Arabic and government and politics major and Kol Sasson’s president.
Kol Sasson hasn’t limited themselves to the confines of the campus. Some of their past performances have included singing for both former President Bush and President Obama as well as singing at the Congressional Hanukkah Celebration.
And though the group has many success stories to tell, its members continue to work to get better. “We hope to improve musically. We’re working towards more complex arrangements and, as always, a better blend than last year,” Rich said.
