SEASON ONE
This test season was very short – just eight episodes – but provided the basic groundwork that the characters were built on. Among a host of run-ins with various celebrities, Vince and Ari clash over Vince’s desire to do an indie film, Queen’s Boulevard, instead of a major motion picture. Ultimately, Vince wins out and the season ends as the boys head home to New York to shoot the movie.
BEST EPISODE: “The Script and The Sherpa” – Val Kilmer plays a weed-growing Sherpa in one of the best cameos the show has had so far.
BEST LINE: Ari’s catchphrase – “Let’s hug it out, bitch!”
SEASON TWO
The boys return to Los Angeles after shooting Queen’s Boulevard, and Ari attempts to get Vince to agree to do Aquaman, which the star has no interest in. While Vince is initially hesitant, Eric convinces him the film is in his best interests. The season then centers around the drama of Vince getting the movie.
BEST EPISODE: “The Sundance Kids” – The boys head to Sundance Film Festival to screen Queen’s Boulevard for the first time, and Drama and Turtle try to woo their female driver into a threesome.
BEST LINE: “Victory!” by Johnny Drama at the ComicCon.
SEASON THREE
Aquaman premieres. Vince’s old friend, Dom, returns from prison and starts breaking up the entourage. Eric finds Vince the perfect role as Johnny Ramone, but the movie is sold out from under them by the producer after Ari insults him. In the cliff-hanger ending, Vince fires Ari.
BEST EPISODE: “Vegas Baby, Vegas!” – The boys heads to Vegas for a promotional appearance by Vince; run into Seth Green’s crew; and E gets into it with Green over his past relationship with E’s current girlfriend.
BEST LINE: “I don’t care if it’s a porn shoot in which he is gang-raped by a gaggle of silverback gorillas; if there are cameras rolling, everybody wins!” by Ari Gold, as he is trying to get a job for Johnny Drama so Vince will speak to him after their falling out.
