What to watch for Maryland: Happy Valley woes
The Terps have lost their last two games in State College, one in each of the last two seasons. Last year, it was a four-point loss in a forgettable season. In 2016-17, it was a six-point loss after the Terps were ranked 21st in the nation. That came the game after Maryland lost in dramatic fashion to Purdue, blowing a double-digit lead in the second half. Maryland’s favored by less than two points, so this game could be very close and should definitely be a nail-biter at the end.
What to watch for Penn State: Ranked home wins
The Nittany Lions have not one, but two wins against ranked opponents at home this season. One was against then-No. 13 Virginia Tech in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. The other was more recently, a shocking six-point win over No. 6 Michigan. The most shocking thing above anything is that they averaged just under 8,750 fans for both games, just over half the capacity of the Bryce Jordan Center. So even without a sold out crowd, Penn State can be a tough place to play.
