Oakland Hall
Two university workers were injured after a malfunctioning air conditioning unit caught fire on the roof of Oakland Hall on Monday morning.
University officials issued a safety notice at 9 a.m. and evacuated the building and area. Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady wrote in a tweet at 9:05 a.m. that the fire on top of the nine-story dorm was extinguished.
The building reopened shortly after 10 a.m., according to the University Police Twitter account.
The two workers were taken to a local hospital for “possible minor injuries,” according to a university statement.
