University Police responded to reports of assault, a suspicious person and individuals caught entering Byrd Stadium in the past week, according to police reports.

Assault

An officer responded to the University Health Center on Sept. 24 at about 9:10 a.m. for a report of an assault that had occurred on Sept. 22, University Police spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas said.

The assault involved two people at McKeldin Library. The individuals know each other and are both affiliated with the University of Maryland, Hoaas said.

One individual had injuries that were not life-threatening.

Suspicious person

Officers responded to McKeldin on Sept. 25 at 1:22 a.m. for a suspicious person inside the library, Hoaas said.

Officers located the man, who was underage and in possession of alcohol, and he was issued a civil citation. The man proceeded to leave the library.

Officers could not determine whether the man was affiliated with the university, Hoaas said.

Trespassing

Officers responded to Byrd Stadium on Sept. 27 at 1:46 a.m. after individuals entered the stadium.

A large group of people could be seen on security cameras, Hoaas said.

When the officers arrived at the stadium, they called out to the individuals, who proceeded to run away. The officers were waiting for them and advised them not to run, she said.

Hoaas said officers stopped some of the individuals, and those affiliated with this university were referred to the Office of Student Conduct. Officers were not able to stop all of the individuals.

Burglary

Officers responded to a Courtyards apartment on Sept. 24 at about 11:40 a.m. after a reported burglary, Hoaas said.

Property was taken from the apartment, and the case remains under investigation.

Vandalism

An officer responded to reported vandalism in Lot HH1 on Sept. 25 at about 11:45 p.m.

Hoaas said the victim, a male student, reported superficial damage to his car. The incident remains under investigation, and police are checking nearby cameras for more information.

Theft

Police received a report Sept. 27 at about 1 p.m. of a bicycle theft at Harford Hall. A theft of bicycle parts was reported at Centreville Hall at 5:34 p.m. the same day, according to police reports. Both cases are active.
