You’re new addition
As the craze of Pinterest took off last semester, I was one of the first of my friends to create an account. However, after spending my summer pinning outfits to my boards, I was getting a little frustrated that the clothes I liked were out of my reach.
What was the point of pinning an outfit that I fell in love with if I had no way of finding out where I could buy it? I thought this may have been a personal issue since shopping is very possibly an addiction for me. But, after hearing others complain about it as well, I knew it was time to find a Pinterest alternative.
Now, before I go on, I must issue a warning: This site is highly addictive and may take over all of your free time.
Wanelo.com is my new obsession.
Wanelo (pronounced “wah-nee-lo,” from Want, Need, Love) is an online social store that was created by a few members of the San Francisco, Calif. community. They were not professionals -— rather, they were people who decided it should be possible to connect a market for all of the world’s goods. Wanelo was designed to allow users to find truly unique products from stores that they have never heard of. What could be better?
One of the most outstanding aspects of Wanelo is the fact that almost everything that can be seen on the site can be bought. And furthermore, everything found on the site is posted by members — this means no advertisements or plugs by big corporations.
The opening page of the site contains a list of products that others have already saved or bought. This is the Trending page, and updates constantly as trends change daily. Once something peaks your interest, simply click the “Save It” button in the top right hand corner of the image. That item is now saved in your Wishlist. Now, when you realize that you can’t stop thinking about it and need to buy it, your product is just a click away.
After you decide that this is the coolest thing to ever hit the Internet, you will also want to begin posting items that you like to share with the Wanelo community. Just find something you like and click the POST+ button at the top of every single page.
Finally, just like with any truly amazing site, there’s an App for that. Now you can get your fix anywhere, anytime. Enjoy!
