Katie Schwarzmann
The Terrapins women’s lacrosse team opens exhibition play today when it faces Japan’s national women’s team at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
Katie Schwarzmann, a U.S. national team member, will look to lead the Terps past the Japanese. The matchup will serve as an early scouting report for the senior, who might see Japan again in the 2013 FILA World Cup.
Fellow Terps Iliana Sanza and Kelly McPartland will join Schwarzmann, a member of the U.S.’s final 18-player roster, on the extended 36-player roster.
Also, coach Cathy Reese will get an opportunity Friday to see highly touted freshmen Bryn Boucher, Halle Majorana, Taylor Cummings and Alice Mercer in action for the first time tomorrow.
All four played in the 2012 Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game. Cummings starred, notching five goals, three assists and 11 draw controls en route to game MVP honors.
