After Saturday’s beautiful weather, I’m more than excited to attend anything that lets me frolic around outside with my friends. Luckily, on April 14, Student Entertainment Events is presenting Terpstock Music Festival.
Shwayze will headline the free outdoor festival, with OCD: Moosh & Twist, Sid Sriram, Warden and Admonic & Davies.
Shwayze, best known for his single “Corona and Lime,” caught his big break after jumping on stage at a Whitestarr show, where he called himself “the only white kid in Malibu.” This leap of faith led him to eventually work side-by-side with hip-hop moguls like Lil Jon and Snoop Dogg (Currently known as Snoop Lion … ha).
Shwayze serves as inspiration to up-and-coming artists everywhere. Admonic & Davies, aka Adam Weiner and Jonathan Davis, two university sophomores,, hope to use Terpstock as a benchmark for future performances.
Weiner and Davis started working together after entering an online contest to perform downstairs at the Barking Dog last year. The two didn’t start working together consistently until last semester, when they put our their first track, “Pluto.”
“The Admonic & Davies sound is not something that we are ready to put a label on just yet,” says Weiner. “It is a culmination of everything we love about music, both from within and outside of EDM.”
“In our music we try to blend elements from all of our favorite genres,” adds Davis. “Maybe our intro will have trance factors, while the drop will sound like something straight off of a Mad Decent track.”
“We have been putting in a lot of time in the studio lately, and have a new track that we’re planning to premier at Terpstock,” Weiner said. “It’s a bit more melodic than ‘Pluto’… We can’t wait to see what people think of it.”
Davis, a communications major, and Weiner, a computer science major, expect to release new tracks more frequently over the summer when school work won’t be an issue.
“Every show is special, but I have really high expectations for this one,” Weiner said. “Being able to perform right in the middle of campus in front of all my friends and fellow Terps is going to be a great experience.”
In May, the duo is scheduled to open for Major Lazer and A$AP Rocky at Dartmouth College.
