In addition to playing in the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic, the Terrapin men’s basketball team will play Illinois and conclude its season with a difficult stretch of games against North Carolina, Duke and N.C. State.
The Terps open conference play Dec. 10 at Boston College and host Duke Feb. 11.
In other out-of-conference play, the Terps visit Illinois for the ACC/Big 10 Challenge, and face Winthrop and Siena at home and Notre Dame in the BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center in Washington.
The Terps open the season against Hampton in the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic Nov. 7, and could face Michigan State and Texas at Madison Square Garden Nov. 16-17 if they advance.
A three-week stretch from mid-November through Dec. 10 could provide an early litmus test for the Terps. In that span, they play the tournament, Illinois, Notre Dame, Fordham and Boston College before a seven-game home stand.
Throughout the season, the Terps play on national television 13 times.
The ACC tournament will take place in Tampa, Fla., from March 8-11, and the NCAA tournament begins March 15.
Women’s schedule released
The Terrapin women’s basketball team will begin its national title defense at Middle Tennessee State on Nov. 10. The team’s home opener is two days later – a Sunday matinee tilt against George Mason.
The Terps’ schedule is highlighted with a Thanksgiving trip to the Bahamas, much like last season’s holiday trip to the Virgin Islands. In the Junkanoo Jam, the Terps will face Gardner-Webb followed by either Mississippi or Northwestern.
The Terps’ two biggest tests before conference play will come in a national televised game at Comcast Center against Michigan State and a road game in Philadelphia against Temple. Last season, the Terps defeated then No. 9-ranked Spartans in the Virgin Islands.
Nine games will be on national television, including both Duke games and a Jan. 28 game against North Carolina.
The ACC tournament will take place in Greensboro, N.C., from March 1-3, and the NCAA tournament begins March 17.
