University of Maryland Police responded to reports of a hate bias incident, an assault, a burglary, multiple thefts and DWIs, among others this past week.

Title IX-related hate bias incident

On Wednesday, University Police responded to a Title IX-related hate bias incident on Stadium Drive around Hagerstown Hall, according to police logs.

As of Sunday afternoon, the incident was not listed on the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s hate bias report log.

This case is active.

Assault

At 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, University Police responded to a reported assault near the North Campus Dining Hall.

Police arrested an individual in the case.

Burglary

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday, University Police received a report of a burglary in Anne Arundel Halls, according to a UMD safety notice.

A female student reported that, at about 6:45 a.m., a man entered her room. When the female student yelled at him to leave, he did not listen, so she had to force him out of the room.

She described him as a young, white man with short brown hair, a red shirt and dark pants. The man was between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot, the alert read. He appeared intoxicated, she also told police.

DWI

University Police arrested people for DWIs on Baltimore Avenue three nights in a row, from Tuesday through Thursday, according to police logs.

Theft

Police are investigating four thefts reported in the past week, according to police logs.
