Terrapins softball coach Courtney Scott Deifel accepted a head coaching position at Arkansas, according to a release Thursday.

In her lone season at the helm of the program, Scott Deifel led the team to a 27-27 record and a berth in the Big Ten tournament. This came a year after the Terps tallied 11 victories in 46 games, their worst mark in program history.

“We appreciate Courtney’s commitment and dedication to our program,” Athletic Director Kevin Anderson said. “Our softball program made great strides in its first season in the Big Ten Conference, and we wish Courtney the very best.”

Scott Deifel’s replacement will be the Terps’ third coach in as many years. Former coach Laura Watten left the program last June after nine seasons, and Scott Deifel was hired a few weeks later.
