Coach Mark Turgeon looks on during the Terps’ 80-60 victory over Virginia Tech on Feb. 1, 2014 at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Junior college point guard Jaylen Brantley has become the first recruit in the class of 2015 to commit to the Terrapins men’s basketball team, according to multiple media reports.
The Massachusetts native played in the highly respected Boston Amateur Basketball Club with a familiar face in College Park—Jake Layman.
Brantley graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Spring 2013 and committed Marshall University, he sat out the entire first season and then decided to transfer. Brantley will play out this season at Odessa College in Texas and have three years of eligibility to play under coach Mark Turgeon in College Park.
Brantley spurned TCU, Wichita State and Missouri to land on the Terps. The point guard visited the campus Friday to attend Maryland Madness.
