Every week, staff writer James Crabtree-Hannigan will take a look at the careers of a number of former Maryland athletes embarking on professional careers in a variety of leagues. The stats are from games through August 16.

The Major League Lacrosse playoffs started this week with the semifinal round, featuring games between the Ohio Machine and Charlotte Hounds, and the New York Lizards and Denver Outlaws. The teams had a combined 12 Terps on their rosters.

The Machine beat the Hounds, 16-10, and will face the Outlaws, who won, 20-17, over the Lizards, in Saturday’s championship game.

Jake Bernhardt, Midfielder, Ohio Machine

2016 stats (regular season): 14 GP, 10 goals, 9 assists, 19 ground balls, 40 shots, .250% shooting percentage, 6-for-13 FO

Skinny: Bernhardt scored two goals in Ohio’s win, one at the end of the first quarter and one to start scoring in the second half. He took five shots in the game.

Jeremy Sieverts, Midfielder, Denver Outlaws

2016 stats (regular season): 14 GP, 22 goals, 14 assists, 18 ground balls, 100 shots, .220 shooting percentage

Skinny: Sieverts scored a hat trick to go with three assists, giving him six points on the day. He did most of his damage in the first half, when he had two assists and goals. He was perfect when shooting, taking three shots and scoring three times. All three of his goals were unassisted.

Drew Snider, Midfielder, Denver Outlaws

2016 stats (regular season): 13 GP, 33 goals, 11 assists, 32 ground balls, 96 shots, .344 shooting percentage

Skinny: Snider took seven shots on goal and scored with one of them, an unassisted effort in the middle of the first quarter that cut the Lizards lead to 3-2.

Michael Ehrhardt, Defender, Charlotte Hounds

2016 stats: 14 GP, 5 goals, 0 assists, 49 ground balls, 18 shots, .278% shooting percentage

Skinny: Ehrhardt picked up an assist in the beginning of the second quarter and took one shot in the loss. It was the first postseason game of his career.

Kyle Bernlohr, Goaltender, Ohio Machine

2016 stats: 1 GP, 3 goals allowed, 6 saves, .667 SV%

Skinny: Bernlohr was put into the game for a short period while the Machine’s primary goaltender received a penalty and had to come off the field. He was not tested during his time in net.

Mike Chanenchuk, Midfielder, Charlotte Hounds

2016 stats (regular season): 14 GP, 34 goals, 17 assists, 24 ground balls, 127 shots, .268 shooting percentage

Skinny: After a wildly successful regular season, Chanenchuk was shut out in the semifinal, despite taking nine shots, all of which were on goal.

John Haus, Midfielder, Charlotte Hounds

2016 stats (regular season): 14 GP, 33 goals, 8 assists, 15 ground balls, 113 shots, .292 shooting percentage

Skinny: Like Chenenchuk, Haus was quiet in the playoffs after a big regular season. He played but did not record a stat in the game.

Pat Young, Midfielder, Charlotte Hounds

2016 stats: 5 GP, 3 goals, 0 assists, 1 ground ball, 11 shots, .273 shooting percentage

Skinny: Young had one shot on goal.

Brett Schmidt, Defender, Charlotte Hounds

2016 stats (regular season): 11 GP, 0 goals, 1 assist, 16 ground balls, 0 shots

Skinny: Schmidt got on the box score by committing a pushing foul and being given a 30 second penalty late in the third quarter.

Max Schmidt, Defender, Denver Outlaws

2016 stats (regular season): 12 GP, 0 goals, 1 assist, 26 ground balls, 1 shot

Skinny: Schmidt played but did not record a stat.

Bryan Cole, Midfielder, Ohio Machine

2016 stats: 2 GP, 0 goals, 0 assists, 1 ground ball, 0 shots

Skinny: Cole entered the game but did not record a stat.

Dan Groot, Midfielder, Ohio Machine
