Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Wednesday he’s not voting for the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump. The Washington Post reported it first.
“No, I don’t plan to,” Hogan told The Post about voting for Trump. “I guess when I get behind the curtain I’ll have to figure it out. Maybe write someone in. I’m not sure.”
The first-term Republican governor has repeatedly denounced supporting Trump — he once said Trump shouldn’t be the nominee — but this is the first time Hogan has publicly stated he won’t cast a ballot for the businessman whose candidacy has been controversial since its inception. In the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll, 69 percent of registered voters view Trump unfavorably — surpassing the 67 percent mark set in March.
Reactions on Twitter have been fairly slow and positive — but that hasn’t tempered the snark.

Early in the primary season, Hogan endorsed his close friend New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and helped him raise money in Maryland while he was still in the race. The two have been friendly since Christie endorsed Hogan for his gubernatorial bid in Maryland, though Hogan has declined to follow in Christie’s footsteps in supporting Trump.
