The Terrapin volleyball team won both of its weekend matches, first sweeping Virginia Tech Friday then pulling from behind to beat Virginia (30-16, 24-30, 30-26, 26-30, 15-12) yesterday.
The Terps have won 20 of their last 21 and are 14-0 this season.
After taking the first game against Virginia, the Terps dropped the next and were in trouble of losing the third. That’s when Beth Gilming took over, slamming home four kills to the Cavaliers two during a decisive stretch that gave the Terps a 19-18 lead from which they never surrendered.
Sophomore Jade Brown led the Terps the rest of the way with 19 total kills.
The wins came against ACC foes in hostile territory, proving to Terp coach Janice Kruger that her young team could win on the road.
