For the second time in as many games, the Terrapin women’s soccer team gave up an own goal. This time, it was a bit more costly.

Florida State jumped out to an early lead thanks to the deflected own goal and added on a pair of second half goals to knock off the Terps, 3-1, at Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahassee last night.

The No. 17-ranked Seminoles (10-2-0, 3-2-0 ACC) put the first goal on the board in the game’s third minute.

The Terps (3-7-2, 1-2-1) quickly responded as senior forward Kimmy Francis scored her second goal of the season less than two minutes after Florida St. scored.

It was Francis’s first goal since Aug. 28 and her 64th career point as a Terp, which puts her fourth on the all-time list.

The half ended tied at 1-1 and then the Seminoles took over. They scored in the 48th and 61st minutes to put the game out of reach.

Statistically, Florida St. dominated the game. They outshot the Terps, 22-10, and had a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalie Nikki Resnick had five saves for the Terps.
