The No. 1-ranked Terrapin field hockey team has only today’s game against Delaware to prepare for its ACC-heavy portion of the schedule.
With all six ACC teams in the top 10 of the coaches poll and looming on the schedule, the Terps’ focus has been something to be thankful for, coach Missy Meharg said.
“The team is kind of funny,” Meharg said. “They don’t talk about anything past today. I never hear them go ‘Oh, did you hear about the Wake [Forest] score?’ They’re right in the moment, and that’s a dream as a coach.”
Riding a seven-game winning streak against Delaware, dating back to 1999, the Terps must continue to use lessons learned from a disappointing game against Temple last weekend, senior Paula Infante said.
“We went through that down loop, and now we’re ready to move forward,” Infante said. “Whenever you go down, sometimes you can stay down. But we’ve got our heads up and realize that there are things that we need to work on.”
After today, the Terps’ next three games are against No. 8-ranked Boston College, No. 13-ranked James Madison University and Wake Forest, which is tied with the Terps for the top spot in the poll.
