Crab cakes and lacrosse, that’s what Maryland does.
That may not be the famous line from Wedding Crashers, but Maryland is first and foremost a lacrosse school. Need more proof?
Look no further than the newly created Premier Lacrosse League started by Paul Rabil, the world’s best lacrosse player. The season, which will begin this summer, will feature six different teams who will travel the country, playing over a 14-week period in the summer in 12 different “major-market cities” as described by the league.
Of the six teams, Whipsnakes LC is the one of note for Maryland fans. Of the 27 players featured on the roster, 20 played for Maryland. That means that 74 percent of Whipsnakes LC is a Terp.

As you can imagine, the Maryland lacrosse Twitter account took note of this.

Among the notable Maryland names on the roster are Matt Rambo, Connor Kelly, Tim Rotanz, Dan Morris and Jake Bernhardt.
The Maryland lacrosse Twitter account has already followed the PLL and has now followed the official Whipsnakes LC Twitter account, so if it’s not official yet that this team is Terp-sponsored, it now is.
So, if you don’t have a team to root for in this upcoming inaugural PLL season, root for Whipsnakes LC because it’s basically professional Maryland lacrosse.
