Second baseman Brandon Lowe throws out a player at first base during the Terps’ 3-1 loss to VCU at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium on April 22.

Terrapins baseball second baseman Brandon Lowe has been selected by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 87th overall pick (third round) in the 2015 MLB Draft.

Lowe, a sophomore, led the Terps with 53 rbi’s and finished second on the team with nine home runs in 2015.

After sitting out the 2013 campaign with an injury, Lowe returned to post a team-high .348 batting average the following year en route to earning a nod to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team.

His success continued this season, helping the Terps to a program record 42 wins and their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Super Regionals.
