Wide receiver Juwann Winfree secures a touchdown catch in the fourth quarter of the Terps’ 37-15 loss of Michigan State on Nov. 15. 2014.

Terrapins football wide receiver Juwann Winfree has been suspended two weeks by this university’s athletic department for violating the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct.

Winfree, a freshman, is coming off a career-best performance during the Terps’ 37-15 loss to No. 12 Michigan State on Saturday night. He caught four passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, the second of his career.

Winfree joins a list of Terps football players who have been suspended for a varying number of games this year.

Defensive back A.J. Hendy and wide receiver Levern Jacobs were both suspended for the season during summer training camp. Linebacker Abner Logan missed six games after being placed on probation in May — a punishment that was lifted Oct. 14. And the Big Ten suspended Stefon Diggs for the game against the Spartans for the junior wide receiver’s participation in a pregame scuffle before a Nov. 1 win over Penn State.
