University Police responded to reports of rape, a hate bias incident and a trespassing, among other incidents in the past week, according to police reports.

Rape

University Police responded to Commons 3 on Monday at about 4:15 p.m. for an incident involving rape, according to the daily crime and incident log. The rape allegedly occurred on Oct. 7 at about 1 a.m., and the incident is under investigation. 

Hate bias

University Police responded to Cumberland Hall on Saturday at about 1 p.m. for a report of a hate bias incident.

Students found a swastika drawn in black marker on their dry erase board. They also reported other swastikas on two fliers and a poster near the elevator. The items were removed, and the case is still active.

 

Trespassing

University Police responded to Van Munching Hall on Oct. 29 at about 12:30 a.m. for a report of trespassing, according to police reports.

An officer found a man sleeping inside the building in a chair near the entrance, University Police spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas said. The officer identified the man, who had been issued a trespass notice in August 2010.

The man was arrested and charged with school trespassing. 

 

Vandalism

An officer met with a woman in the lobby of University Police headquarters for a report of vandalism, Hoaas said.

The woman had parked her vehicle in Lot 15 on Oct. 27 at about 8 p.m. When she returned to her car at about 9 a.m. the next morning, the left side mirror was removed from the car and damaged.

University Police filed another report of vandalism Oct. 28 at about 7:30 p.m. after an officer responded to the same parking lot, Hoaas said.

A driver parked their vehicle on Oct. 26 at about 6 p.m. Two days later at about 4:30 p.m., the driver returned to the vehicle to find the front windshield shattered.

On Saturday at about 8:30 a.m., University Police received a report of a vandalism incident at the University Golf Course. Between 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, a range cart was damaged and the equipment was disabled.
