Letter writer did not acknowledge professor’s hate speech; columnist was right

I’m happy when I see a student at this left-leaning university reject the comments of a moonbat such as Ward Churchill. I thought Morgan Hubbard’s column about Churchill was typical (“Freedom forum,” Feb. 16). He claimed the professor has a right to free speech, and he had a right to be angry about it. And what American wouldn’t be? Churchill’s paper makes the innocent victims of Sept. 11 into the murderers.

Churchill’s arguments are less than informed. He claims the terrorist attacks were retribution for the large coalition’s ground attacks in 1991, in which innocent civilians of Iraq died. That’s a new one. I thought Iraq had nothing to do with Sept. 11. Rather than criticize Iraq for its imperialist invasion of Kuwait, he blames the United States (and only the United States) for purposely killing 500,000 Iraqi children. The anti-American left can never admit that this country, however imperfect it may be, can be a force for good in the world. Rather than protecting Kuwait from invasion, we are turned into the blood-thirsty aggressors. Obviously, a professor’s tenure allows him to come up with some pretty wild ideas.

David May (“Columnist’s threat of violence proved the hypocrisy in his defense of free speech,” Feb. 25) and other members of the far left will defend Churchill because he’s anti-American and in doing so, they won’t even focus on the stupidity of his arguments. May, there is a huge difference between informed criticism and selective criticism, hate-speech and history revision. The sooner you and the rest of the far left learn that, the better.

Many students have parking horror stories; Transportation director sets bad example

As someone who has heard countless horror stories regarding my friends and parking issues, I find it outrageous that Transportation Services Director David Allen could just void his own parking tickets (“Allen dodges parking tickets,” Feb. 25). What kind of role model is he providing to pay one’s tickets, much less pay them promptly?
