A student was robbed of her cell phone and student ID card in the Mowatt Lane Garage Wednesday night, police said.
The student was walking down a stairwell in the parking garage’s east side — closest to the South Campus Commons — at 11:42 p.m. when a man coming down the stairs behind her pushed something into her back and demanded she give him what she was carrying, according to a crime alert from University Police.
The robber, described only as a man standing 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt or jacket and dark pants, fled on foot after the robbery across the parking garage toward Mowatt Lane, the crime alert said.
According to the crime alert, the student notified police within two minutes of the robbery; the suspect was still at large Thursday morning. The mugging was the first on the campus since early October, and police have a suspect in custody in that case.
No further information was immediately available.
