Maryland baseball catcher Justin Vought entered concussion protocol after exiting Friday’s season opener in the 10th inning, when he was hit on the helmet with a pitch. The sophomore will miss the remainder of the Terps’ opening weekend.
Vought was one of the bright spots at the plate during Maryland’s 10-6 extra-innings loss to the Camels. The backstop hit a home run and added three RBIs.

Now out for the rest of the Brittain Resorts Invitational after getting crossed up by a pitch, Sebastian Holte-Mancera will take over duties behind the plate against Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
Holte-Mancera spent two season at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa, where he clubbed seven homers as part of 51 RBIs as a sophomore. The Woodbury, Minnesota, native hit .384 and earned an All-Region honorable mention in 2018.

Going into this year, Vought was was one of the few clear starters on a team full of offseason turnover. The sophomore started 20 games in 2018, notching 12 hits, seven RBIs and three home runs. He was voted a team captain before the 2019 campaign.
After dropping their season opener, the Terps conclude their first weekend of play against No. 21 Coastal Carolina and VCU.
