If you like your comedians squeaky-voiced, Chris Tucker is your main funny man.

Tucker’s first major motion picture was the classic urban comedy Friday, where he starred alongside Ice Cube. However, he didn’t appear in either of Friday’s two sequels: Next Friday and The Friday after Next. He is, however, in negotiations to reprise the role of Smokey in the upcoming movie Last Friday, which is still in preproduction.

In 1997, a year after the release of Friday, he appeared in the comedy Money Talks with Charlie Sheen and in the exceptionally weird Sci-Fi adventure, The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis.

He truly made his break however, playing Detective James Carter in everyone’s favorite martial arts comedy Rush Hour, where he co-starred with Jackie Chan.

Tucker’s portrayal of the high-strung, street-smart, wise-cracking Carter worked perfectly alongside Chan’s more straight forward Inspector Lee. Rush Hour is, in many ways, one of the best examples of the “buddy cop” genre.

Since making his breakthrough, Tucker has gone into a hibernation of sorts.

He reprised the role of Carter in 2001’s Rush Hour 2, but has not appeared in any other movies during the past eight years. Continuing the apparent tread of only appearing in the Rush Hour series of movies, he’s scheduled to begin filming Rush Hour 3 in mid-September.

His most recent widely seen public appearance was in the Michael Jackson trial, where he testified on the behalf of the beleaguered King of Pop. He is considered to be a close friend of the pop star, having appeared at a Jackson 5 reunion, where he danced with Jackson – even imitating the superstar’s moves.

Tucker also made quite a news spectacle out of himself in April 2005 for getting pulled over in Georgia. He was reportedly going 109 MPH in his Bentley. The Atlanta native’s excuse to the State Police? He was late for church. In Tucker’s defense, it was a Sunday morning.

Expect Tucker’s act to include jokes on the standard comedian topics: pop culture and politics. However, Tucker’s standup may be unique in the fact that it is – according to him – virtually swear-free. He claims not to swear in his personal life or to do so in his act.

Tucker reportedly told the Associated Press that he’s using this comedy tour as a warm-up of sorts for the filming of Rush Hour 3.

Tucker has not appeared in Washington since 1997 and he rarely goes on tour, so fans might want to ignore the high ticket prices and make the trip. Come on, gas prices have gone down. Now you have no excuse.

Chris Tucker will be performing Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Warner Theatre. Tickets range from $45 to $65.
