Former Terrapins men’s basketball guard Eric Hayes will join the Terps’ coaching staff as a graduate assistant, Hayes announced via Twitter on Monday.

Hayes, who played four years under Gary Williams, has been pursuing a professional career since graduating in 2010. He played for Leche Rio Breogan Lugo, a member of Spain’s Liga Espanola de Baloncesto, before joining the NBA Development League’s Canton (Ohio) Charge in February.

Hayes will join the Terps’ coaching staff this fall, and plans to enroll in graduate school. He finished his college career with the program’s best free-throw percentage, second-best three-point percentage and fourth-most three pointers.
