A male university student was struck by a bus on the campus this afternoon, police said.

A Shuttle-UM bus hit the pedestrian about 2 p.m. at Lot HH, the bus lip next to Stamp Student Union, University Police spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas said. He suffers not life threatening injuries.

The student was running to catch the bus while it was already in motion, and the vehicle struck him.

University Police and the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department responded to the incident at about 2:30 p.m., Mark Brady, chief spokesman for the department, said.

Responders transported the student to a local hospital by ambulance.
