Maryland women’s basketball center Brionna Jones and guards Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Destiny Slocum and Kaila Charles earned All-Big Ten honors Monday.

Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were unanimous All-Big Ten First Team choices on the media and coaches’ ballots. The senior duo also made the All-Defensive Team.

Slocum won Freshman of the Year, was a unanimous choice for the All-Freshman Team and earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.

Charles was also on the All-Freshman Team.

This is Jones and Walker-Kimbrough’s third consecutive year on the First Team.

Jones averaged 20.8 points and 11.4 rebounds in conference play this year and was the Big Ten Player of the Week four times. The Havre de Grace native led the country in field goal percentage (69) and the conference in double-doubles (20) and rebounding.

Walker-Kimbrough averaged 20.6 points against Big Ten teams this year and added 3.8 assists per game. She was the conference’s Player of the Week once and the Naismith National Player of the Week on Feb. 14. The Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, native ranked sixth in the conference in shooting percentage (53.7) and third in 3-point accuracy (43.7).

Both Jones and Walker-Kimbrough are in the running for multiple national post-season awards, including the Wooden and Naismith Awards, given to the top player in the country.

Slocum started and played in all but one game of her freshman season, averaging 10.7 points and 7.5 assists per conference game. She had the second-most assists in the conference (168) and earned one Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. Slocum is Maryland’s eighth conference Freshman of the Year and first since Alyssa Thomas’ ACC honor in 2011.

Charles started every game of her rookie campaign. Renowned by the team for her defense, Charles averaged 10.4 points and 6.0 rebounds against Big Ten competition and had more than a steal per game this season.

Guard Kristen Confroy was the team’s Sportsmanship Award Honoree.
