Two Montgomery County high school seniors, one of whom was planning to attend the University of Maryland in the fall, were shot and killed late Monday night.
Artem Ziberov, 18, had committed to attend this university, where he planned to study international relations. His 19th birthday would have been Thursday, The Washington Post reported.
Both Ziberov and his classmate, 17-year-old Shadi Adi Najjar, were honor roll students at Northwest High School in Montgomery County, and were set to graduate in less than 24 hours, according to The Post.
Ziberov was an Eagle Scout, an AP scholar with honors, a National Honor Society member and a President’s Education Award recipient.
The two students were sitting in a parked car in Montgomery Village when more than 22 shots were fired at them, according to the police report and audio from the crime scene. They died at the scene from the gunshot wounds.
Montgomery County Police haven’t made any arrests yet, but they are investigating this double homicide. Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspects.
