Ahead of the 2019 Maryland men’s lacrosse season, attackman Jared Bernhardt, defenseman Curtis Corley, midfielder Bubba Fairman and faceoff specialist Justin Shockey all earned preseason All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse.

Bernhardt, who will assume the coveted No. 1 jersey for the Terps this season, was named a second-team selection ahead of his junior campaign. In 2018, Bernhardt garnered first team All-Big Ten honors, finishing with 40 goals and 16 assists. Coach John Tillman will likely depend on Bernhardt to help replace midfielder Connor Kelly’s 45-goal, 33-assist output from a season ago.

Inside Lacrosse named Corley a third-team selection before his senior season after he earned honorable mention All-American accolades from USILA and the media in 2018. Corley was a key cog in the Maryland defense last season, starting each game while primarily defending the opponent’s top attacking threat.

Sophomore Bubba Fairman will enter his second season in College Park as a preseason honorable mention. In 2018, he joined the Terps as the No. 2 overall recruit in the country before scoring 26 goals and tallying nine assists.

At the faceoff circle, Maryland will have a preseason honorable mention honoree in Shockey. As a freshman in 2018, Shockey was the primary faceoff man for Tillman’s team and won possession 54.2 percent of the time. The Potomac native ranked second among freshman nationally in total faceoff wins and third in percentage. Shockey will look to build off of a strong NCAA tournament, where he won 66 percent of faceoffs.

Maryland fell to Duke last year in the semifinals to conclude a 14-4 season. The Terps’ 2019 schedule has yet to be released, but the season should begin in February.
