Katie Schwarzmann

Entering its matchup with the Terrapins women’s lacrosse team, North Carolina knew it needed to contain attacker Alex Aust.

Aust was averaging a stellar .642 shooting percentage, and a team-leading 43 goals before the game. So they employed a faceguard on the senior, virtually eliminating her from the Terps’ offensive scheme.

With the team’s top offensive option eliminated, midfielder Katie Schwarzmann took matters into her own hands, torching the Tar Heels for a game-high five goals on just six shots.

The ACC has taken notice, as the senior was awarded ACC Offensive Player of the Week.

The award marks Schwarzmann’s third ACC weekly honor of the 2013 campaign – she earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week on March 19th, and ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 19th.

Schwarzmann’s 41 tallies are good for No. 2 on the team, behind just Aust.
